If I'd known then what I know now...

When I first entered the real estate profession in Los Angeles, I joined a very high powered, well respected and long established firm. It was not Keller Williams.

During one of my first required training sessions, the teacher handed out fifty or so shiny red books to all of us with instructions that we “read every word of it.” The book was “The Millionaire Real Estate Agent” by Gary Keller.

I was surprised that this huge mega-company would purchase hundreds of copies of a real estate book put out by their competition, and call it “required reading.” When the training session broke for lunch, I went up to the instructor and asked “Why are you giving us a book by our competitor?”

I’ll never forget his answer. He said, “Because we think it’s the best book out there for any new or seasoned realtor to read when it comes to learning how to build a strong and successful real estate career. Just ignore that it’s from Keller Williams.”

Turned out, I didn’t need to ignore that it was from Keller Williams, because I never read it. The LA real estate market was so hot at the time that even as a rookie, I had as much business as I could handle.

But now in hindsight, I realize that though I was making great money, I definitely was not building a solid practice—one that would survive when the market took an inevitable turn downward. I was also working way too many hours and much too hard, which left me feeling very imbalanced. And I certainly wasn’t building any sort of future for myself that would continue to pay me when I eventually retired from real estate.

Man, I wish I’d read that red book before jumping into that hot market!

The real estate market eventually changed as did my life-circumstances, and my family had our long-hoped-for opportunity to relocate to Asheville, NC. While settling into our new mountain home, I unpacked a box that had “that red book” sitting at the very top. This time, out of curiosity, I read it. Every word.

It opened my eyes to a wonderfully creative approach to real estate that would not only positively transform my business, but also greatly enhance my life.

Even though I adored my LA office and was proud to be affiliated with such a prestigious company, I would have changed to Keller Williams in a New York minute if I had only bothered to open that red book.

If you are interested in finding out what that difference is, contact me. I’ll fill you in over a cup of coffee, respect your confidentiality and give you a copy of that book for free to keep so that you can read it and see what you think. You’d be doing yourself a favor.

Or, if you want a more succinct version of why I believe this company is so wonderfully and professionally different, just fill in the form below and I’ll email you a short list to consider.

There’ll be no pressure. Ever. I give you my word.
